Around the Park
It is vital that the Olympic Park, permanent venues, new homes and buildings connect well with the surrounding areas and the whole of the Lower Lea Valley.
To help achieve this, each of the five areas that frame the Park (Stratford, Hackney Wick, Leyton, Fish island, Bromley by Bow) are creating their own plans known as the “Olympic Arc plans”. These plans are being developed in conjuction with the Olympic legacy plan to ensure all plans complement each other and avoid any potential conflict. Once complete, The Olympic Arc plans should slot neatly together around the Olympic legacy plan.
In particular, there are two important tasks which require the legacy plans to be considered together with the Olympic Arc plans:
- Finding the right ways and locations to build a new network of safe and inviting bridges, routes and connections.
-
Deciding how many schools, libraries, health centres, playgrounds and other facilities the new and existing communities will need and where the best places for them are.
To achieve this we need to understand the local context, and listen to what local people have to say. So have a look at some of the maps and diagrams and give us your feedback.
The map (above right) and information below outline the location of the different Olympic Arc plans and how they relate to the Olympic Park.
